Liver/Lymphatic System Liver/lymphatic system presentation
If you have any health concern contact us:
Even though we are bombarded with toxins on every side our bodies are uniquely created to handle an enormous amount of toxins, poisons, germs and disease. Out bodies own detoxification system is very powerful and with the proper support and diet it is able to both detoxify and eliminate toxins.
The benefits of a healthy liver are unending. They include preventing and in some cases even reversing disease – having more energy- looking and feeling better – losing weight and much more
It’s important to have a good understanding of this amazing detox system – it is the first line of defense against disease. If you don’t have cancer, heart disease or another degenerative disease – your defense system may be the reason
The liver works day and night to cleanse the blood from chemicals, poisons – bacteria and other foreign invaders that come to rob your body of good health
The liver is the largest single organ in the body – weighing in at about 5 pounds – it is also the hardest working. It is located not far from your heart and is about the size of a football. The liver has about 500 functions – It’s 5 main functions are.
To filter the blood It stores vitamins – minerals and carbohydrates Processes fat protein and carbohydrates Produces bile – a substance that breaks down fats so they can be digested Breaks down and detoxifies hormones, chemical toxins and metabolic waste
The liver has 3 main ways to detoxify the body –
1- it filters the blood 2- secretes bile 3- uses a 2 step enzyme process of detoxification
The liver filters the blood – every minute about 2 quarts of blood are filtered thru the liver – that’s an amazing amount when you consider our bodies consist of only about 5 quarts of blood. When you liver is working effectively – it filters out about 99% of the bacteria and other poisonous toxins b4 sending the blood back into circulation. The liver is our bodies filter – just like the filter on an air conditioner or in a car – filters fill with dirt – your liver is no different. Some contributing factors to liver overload are:
Toxins in our food Water with too much bacteria, chemicals and heavy metals Digestive problems Yeast overgrowth in small intestines Parasites Toxins in the air
The 2nd detoxification method was the secretion of bile:
Every day your body produces about 1 quart of bile. This substance helps to digest the dietary fats by breaking them down so they can be used as fuel
Bile eliminates poisonous toxins from our bodies – it becomes the vehicle that flushes them out of our bodies thru our colon. This process starts in the liver where they pass thru bile ducts – which empty into the small intestines and eventually make it to the colon. However if you are frequently constipated or you don’t eat enough fiber – these toxins and bile may remain in the colon too long – when this happens all of that toxic substance that should have been expelled, is actually re-absorbed.
The last – detoxification – is by far the most important function of your liver. It is a 2-phase process. In phase 1 your body is a chemical factory –
During phase 1 of detox your liver uses 50- to 100 different enzymes to accomplish the task.
Phase 2 kicks in when phase 1 has created partially detoxified elements – that now need to be further broken down and bound to amino acids or nutrients for phase 2 to complete. This phase eliminates toxic metals- petroleum products…many solvents and drugs.
Cleaning you liver is not difficult. It can be accomplished by eating a liver friendly diet. I’ve left on the table to my right a list of foods to avoid and foods that should be increased in your diet in order to get your living working properly.
If you remember only 1 thing about his mornings health talk – the golden rule for a healthy liver is Don’t Overeat. Only eat until you are satisfied and no more. Overeating places an enormous burden on the liver and detoxification pathways.
If you have the tendency to over eat – I would encourage you to Eat slower Chew food thouroghly Take a walk if possible after eating
God has designed the organs in our bodies to function together and he has commanded us to be good stewards when caring for his temple. God desires each of us to reach the standard of perfection made possible for us by the gift of Christ. He calls upon us to make our choice on the right side, to connect with heavenly agencies, to adopt principals that will restore in us the divine image. In His written word and in the great book of nature He has revealed the principals of life – It is our work to obtain knowledge of these principals and by obedience to cooperate with Him in restoring health to the body as well as to the soul.
The good guys (Immune System)
The Enemy
How it works White blood cells patrol the body. When they come across an antigen, they produce an antibody. The antibody binds to the antigen. Each antigen is shaped differently. The immune system has to produce the antibody that fits it exactly. Some antibodies destroy antigens when they bind with them. Others make it easier for white blood cells to destroy the antigen. The lymphatic system is a very important, and I believe very misunderstood system. It can seem to be a very confusing system sometimes, because it is constantly working and producing “symptoms”. The lymphatic or immune system consists of the lymph vessels, lymph fluid, lymph nodes, spleen, thymus gland, tonsils, the peyer’s patches in the small intestine and more Your body has three times as much lymph fluid (the clear fluid that appears from superficial cuts) as it does blood, and it travels all over the body. The heart is the pump for the blood. The pump for the lymph consists of your muscles and the diaphragm. With every step you take and every deep breath you take you are pumping lymph fluid. Just another important reason for exercise. Now, why is this fluid so important? Throughout the lymph system the fluid is collecting the trash of the body. Think of your body as a large city. The lymph controls the trash collectors and the police department. The lymph nodes are the trash dumpsters. As the lymph cleans the blood of dead blood vessels, cancer cells (that the policeman have either killed or captured), bacteria, viruses, etc, they are deposited in the trash cans for later pick-up and disposal. If your lymph nodes swell and become sore, that is one of the first indicators that your system is fighting some kind of infection. Most of the “trash” will be drained into the large intestine or colon (sewer pipe) for disposal. However, if the “sewer pipe” is sluggish or even inactive, can you see how this will cause a back-up of this system and make the city very polluted and miserable? The trash cans will become full to overflowing. This is just a simple analogy of a very complex and vital system that is necessary for better health, naturally.
